TIPS FOR SUBMITTING PHOTOS
TO CONTESTS, EXHIBITS & GALLERIES


June 5, 2013 • 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Susie Reed will share insider’s tips for preparing successful submissions based on her experience judging several photo contests, hanging shows and widely exhibiting her work. She’ll explain important matters to consider including how to edit well, properly prepare submissions, research to do to increase your chances of winning and other good steps to take. She’ll also discuss how to navigate emotional highs and lows that may occur along the way.

PHOTO CRITIQUE - PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

June 7, 2013 • 1:00 - 3:00 pm

This is an opportunity for photographers of all levels to get useful feedback and insights about their work from fine art and commercial photographer Susie Reed who'll help them fine-tune presentations to achieve the results they want whether they’re selecting images for exhibits, clients, family, websites, social media, photo contests, gallery or magazine submissions or elsewhere. She’ll address how, in addition to good photos, discrimination in editing and the order in which pictures appear are important factors that make one’s photos stand out above others.

SEDONA OFF THE BEATEN PATH
SUNSET PHOTO SHOOT TOUR


June 9, 2013 • 4:15 - 8:15 pm


Join acclaimed Sedona photographer Susie Reed on a 4-hour sunset photo shoot to off the beaten path Sedona locations. Visit a little known rock art site and capture a stunning location with 360º views that include Cathedral Rock from a different vantage point than is usually seen. Beginning to advanced photographers are sure to be inspired by what they discover and Reed's help. Before carpooling to destinations participants will meet in West Sedona where she'll share photo tips, explain what to bring on a shoot, discuss how to make creative choices and ways photographers can develop their own unique eye. For novices, she can help explain camera settings, how to achieve good composition, use a polarizing filter and more. Please bring your camera manual if possible.

Cost: $50

Pre-registration is recommended. Space is limited.
Same day registrations must be paid in cash.


Classes and the photo shoot will meet in West Sedona.
Directions will be provided when you register.

About Susie Reed

Award-winning photographer Susie Reed’s work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries including the Cooper Hewitt Museum, the De Young Museum, the International Museum of Photography and elsewhere. In Sedona she’s been showing at Goldenstein Gallery since 2009. This acclaimed gallery was voted the city’s top gallery for the last five years. Reed's photos have been in many publications and on an array of products, including several photographic calendars. She’s a popular writer and speaker and a generous teacher who offers clear guidance to all levels of photographers. She takes people on photo, rock art and ancient site tours in Sedona and beyond and teaches photography privately, for various groups, schools, camera clubs and online. Among the places she’s taught and spoken are California College of the Arts, San Francisco Art Institute, the Sedona Arts Center and Sedona Photofest where she was also a main organizer and head of the event's photo contest during it’s first years.
