Capture breathtaking Sedona scenery on a free sunset landscape photowalk with award-winning photographer Susie Reed. She'll recommend camera settings, provide tips for composition, ways to use tripods, filters and more. Photographers of all levels are welcome.

Reed helps beginners to pros with a wide range of gear improve in her photo workshops and tours. She has a knack for helping people go from feeling overwhelmed operating sophisticated cameras and complex photo software to feeling comfortable and confident.

In addition to teaching how to use cameras, she also teaches post-processing with Photoshop and Lightroom. She believes good shooting and editing are like two sides of a coin, which when done well create successful photos.

Reed has taught and been a speaker at San Francisco Art Institute and California College of the Arts, Sedona Arts Center, Sedona Photofest, several camera clubs and more. Her work has been in major museums and galleries including the Cooper Hewitt, the De Young Museum, the International Museum of Photography and Goldenstein Gallery.

Advanced registration for the photowalk is required. Space is limited. There will be moderate hiking. Participants will meet in West Sedona. Location information will be sent with confirmations. Enjoy a beautiful drive from Sedona to Wupatki, with a stop along the way for a picnic lunch at Painted Desert Vista. (Food is not provided.) Once at Wupatki lead Interpretation Ranger Laura Carter will guide you through ancient pueblo communities that were occupied between AD 1100 – 1250 by the Cohonina, Kayenta Anasazi, and Sinagua. You’ll get to visit the remains of dwellings at multiple locations.

Susie Reed and Pink Jeep Tours are leading this extended, after hours tour of Honanki Heritage Site. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you explore Sinagua pictographs, petroglyphs and cliff dwellings. You’ll learn about Native Americans who enhabited the site from AD 1150 - 1350, find out about how rock art was made and its possible meanings and more. Reed, a foremost photographer of Southwestern rock art, knows Honanki well after photographing an excavation and restoration project there for years.

Susie Reed is an avid photographer of Sedona’s beautiful landscapes, rock art and archaeology sites. Her desire to protect them turned her into a conservation photographer who brings awareess to the value of these special places by sharing her photographs, doing talks and leading tours. Her passion for rock art began in 199 when she unexpectedly discovered some pictographs and petroglyphs while vacationing in Sedona. She’s been photographing rock art ever since.

These annual events, now in their 7th year, are a collaboration of Keep Sedona Beautiful, Pink Jeep Tours, the National Park Service and Susie Reed Photos. They come together each March during Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month to put on activities that highlight Arizona's archaeology treasures, the importance of protectig them and their influence on modern artists.

Past events have included talks by archaeologists and artists, specially customized archaeology tours led by experts and Goldenstein Gallery receptions featuring artists whose work has been influenced by Arizona’s rich Native American history

Susie Reed does talks and beautiful slide show presentations for camera clubs, resorts, hotels, organizations, schools, cultural events, festivals, galleries and elsewhere. She speaks about rock art, archaeology, Sedona's natural wonders, preservation and photography.

Her tales of adventures and coincidences she's had while following her passion to photograph rock art are as colorful as her fascinating photos. She shares unique insights about how and why rock art was made and its possible uses and interpretations that she's come to know from years of exploration, research and Native Americans, docents, Forest Service guides, archaeologists, shaman and others she's met along the way.

Susie is a conservation photographer whose beautiful photos bring attention to the value of vulnerable archaeological sites and open lands in need of protection. She explains ways people can make a difference by following site etiquette, volunteering and contributing to various organizations. Her heartfelt presentations about at risk ancient sites and stunning landscapes in the Sedona area have moved many to action.
